Women's Tennis Bounces Back For Win In GLIAC Tourney Action

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team got back on the winning track as the Bulldogs beat eighth-seeded Purdue Northwest 4-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on Saturday (Oct. 26) afternoon in Midland.

The fourth-seeded Bulldogs responded after Friday's first-round setback to Northwood by beating the Pride in convincing fashion in day two competition at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

FSU took an early advantage as the Bulldogs picked up the win at the first and third doubles flights to earn the initial point of the match.

In singles action, the Bulldogs managed wins from Isabela Paixao in three sets at the top flight along with straight-set victories by Silvia Verebes at three singles and Johanna Frye at six singles.

Purdue Northwest's lone win came from Olivia Kjaer at the fourth singles spot.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 7-4 overall this season.

Ferris State will face sixth-seeded Saginaw Valley State in Sunday's (Oct. 27) fifth place match at the GLIAC Tournament starting at 9 a.m. (ET) in Midland.
