Ferris State's Morgan Waller Chosen As GLIAC Women's Tennis Player Of The Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University sophomore Morgan Waller (Drinkwater, Saskatchewan / Martin Collegiate) has been chosen as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week, becoming the league's first weekly honoree of the season.

Waller had a big weekend for the Bulldogs, who opened GLIAC play with a perfect 2-0 start and ran their winning streak to seven consecutive contests.

The sophomore standout posted a perfect 4-0 mark on the weekend, including back-to-back wins at number one singles. On Friday, she was a straight-set winner at #1 singles in FSU's impressive 6-1 league-opening home triumph over nationally 23rd-ranked Wayne State. She also teamed up with Sam Stephenson at two doubles where the duo fought back from a 3-0 deficit to win 6-3. On Saturday, she was a decisive 6-1, 6-1 winner at the top singles spot and garnered a 6-2 win at two doubles with Stephenson.

Waller's play has helped FSU vault into the national rankings at #24 this year and lifted FSU to a 7-1 start to the season.
