Bulldogs' GLIAC Tourney Run Ends In Quarterfinals To Longtime GLIAC Foe

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad had its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament run come to an end on Friday (April 29) as the Bulldogs fell 4-3 to Lake Superior State at the Midland Tennis Center in Midland, Mich.

The fifth-seeded Lakers fell behind following the doubles round as FSU won the first two completed flights to grab the initial point of the match, but LSSU responded by taking four of the six singles positions to garner the triumph over the fourth-seeded Bulldogs.

Ferris State got doubles wins from the tandem of Samantha Stephenson and Morgan Waller at two doubles along with Sophie Daavettila and Brittany Lavenant at three doubles by scores fo 6-3 and 6-4, respectively.

In singles competition, Daavettila was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at one singles while Lavenant claimed a 6-4, 6-2 decision at the third flight.

However, the Lakers came up with the win by taking the second, fourth, fifth and sixth flights, which included three-set triumphs in each of the bottom three positions in the lineup.

Ferris State wrapped up the slate with a 10-8 overall record, including a 5-3 GLIAC showing this spring. FSU also went 6-1 overall at home this campaign.
