Big Rapids, Mich. - Four veteran members of the Ferris State University women's tennis program claimed All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors for the 2024 season and the Bulldogs earned one of the league's major awards in an announcement made Friday by the GLIAC.

The Bulldogs' Sophie Daavettila and Morgan Waller were both chosen as All-GLIAC First Team recipients in singles play while Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer was an all-conference second team choice in singles competition. Additionally, Waller and Hernandez claimed All-GLIAC First Team doubles accolades while Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer was an all-league honorable mention honoree.

Ferris State also claimed a major league award with the FSU coaching staff, under the direction of head coach Mark Doren, tabbed as the 2024 GLIAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

Voting was conducted by the league's member head coaches and the awards were announced in conjunction with the GLIAC Tournament taking place this weekend at the Midland Tennis Center in Midland, Mich.

The Ferris State women's tennis program clinched the number two seed for the league's postseason tournament and finished as the GLIAC runner-up in regular-season play under Doren this spring. The Bulldogs missed the conference tournament a year ago, but climbed up the standings this spring to earn a first-round bye and will open league postseason play in the semifinals on Saturday (April 27) in Midland.
Ferris State's lone setback in league regular-season play came to nationally-ranked Wayne State in conference action on the road. FSU, which is also among the Midwest Region's top eight squads and in line for a potential spot in the NCAA Tournament, has won eight of its last nine outings to date and owns a 12-8 overall record along with a 6-1 league mark. Ferris State also posted a 9-2 record at home this year inside the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
