Final Results - GLIAC Championships
Big Rapids, Mich. - The 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships
wrapped up with final day competition on Friday (May 7) at Ferris
State University's Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids, Mich.
Ashland captured the men's team championship for the third
consecutive year in a closely-contested battle with Grand Valley
State as the Eagles finished with 208.50 points compared to 197.50
for the Lakers. GVSU held a six-point cushion heading
into the final completed event, but Ashland picked up 20 points in
the men's discus to earn the title.
On the women's side, Grand Valley State claimed the league crown
for the 11th consecutive year with a GLIAC-meet record 291
points. AU placed second overall in the women's competition
with 146 points.
The third and final day of the GLIAC Championships on Friday was
held under rainy conditions at Top Taggart Field. Due to the
rain, the men's pole vault competition was moved indoors
and held at Grand Valley State in Allendale. The league meet
ran from Wednesday to Friday (May 5-7).
The league's member head coaches also voted on outdoor postseason
award recipients following the conclusion of the meet. The
award winners included:
