Bulldog Track Takes Part In Doug Hanson Open

Univ. Center, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field squads opened second semester action by taking part in the Doug Hanson Open hosted by Saginaw Valley State University on Friday (Jan. 15) evening.

The non-scoring event was held inside SVSU's Ryder Center and included student-athletes from FSU, SVSU, Northwood, Cornerstone, Aquinas and others.

Freshman Alyssa Osika was a double-winner for the Bulldogs as she won the women's mile run (5:11.65) with freshman teammate Shelby Janutol placing second (5:13.46) in the same event for the Bulldog women. The duo also finished first and second, respectively, in the 3,000 meters as Osika was victorious in 10:57.89 and Janutol took runner-up laurels in 10:59.21.

FSU senior Emily Cross took third place in the 60-meter hurdles (9.48), Andrea Fogle came in third overall in the weight throw (12.95m), freshman Zoey Holmann was fourth overall in the 400 meters (1:01.86), Megan Josey placed fourth in the 3,000 meters (11:19.13) and Sarah Creed came in fifth in the 3,000 meters (11:24.58).

Senior Greg Burns won the pole vault (4.70m) in leading the men's team.  Mike Mangieri claimed runner-up honors in both the men's mile run (4:19.27) and the 3,000 meters (8:53.85). Justin Price was third overall in the 400 meters (52.78) and Ryan Chute finished fifth in the 3,000 meters (9:25.78) in helping lead the Bulldog men.

Ferris State returns to action by taking part in the Grand Valley State Bob Eubanks Open, which will be held on Friday, Jan. 22, inside the Laker Turf Building at Allendale, Mich.
