Bulldog Relay Team Earns All-America Honors

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's track and field team opened action in the 2012 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday (March 9) in Mankato, Minn.

The Bulldogs brought home All-America honors as the women's distance medley relay quartet of juniors Shelby Janutol, Zoey Hohmann, Alyssa Osika and senior Tina Muir placed fourth overall in the field in a time of 11:36.37. The showing topped the Bulldogs' previous best seed time by nearly 12 seconds.

With the fourth-place performance, the Bulldogs earned five points in the team standings and are currently in 10th place at the national championships after four events scored.  Eleven teams ran in the distance medley relay, which was won by Grand Valley State in a time of 11:23.35.

The 2012 NCAA-II Championships are taking place Friday and Saturday in Mankato.  The host institution is Minnesota State-Mankato with action held inside the Myers Field House.

Muir will also compete on Saturday in the women's 5,000 meters. She is seeded fourth overall of 13 runners with a top time of 16:31.21.  The event takes place at 6:05 p.m. (CT) tomorrow evening.
