Ferris State Track & Field Heads To GLIAC Championships This Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams are scheduled to take part this week in the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The annual league meet will be hosted by Ashland University at the Dwight Schar Athletic Complex and Ferguson Field in Ashland, Ohio.  It runs Wednesday thru Friday (May 1-3).

Action begins on Wednesday (May 1) with the multi events as the decathlon and heptathlon competitors take part in the first half of their events.

The full slate of events begins on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. (ET) and run throughout the evening.  Final day action on Friday is slated to begin with the field events at 10:45 a.m. (ET) and run until mid-afternoon.

All 16 conference schools will take part in the GLIAC Championships. Fourteen teams will be involved with the men's competition while all 16 schools currently sponsor women's track and field. 

Four schools from the GLIAC are currently found in the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rankings with three women's teams among the top 25 nationally heading into the league championships.
