Bulldog Women's Volleyball Rolls To Another Victory In The GLIAC

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally 22nd-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball team defeated conference foe Ohio Dominican on Saturday (Oct. 5) afternoon to improve their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference (GLIAC) record to 7-0 on the year.

The Bulldogs eased by the panthers in three straight sets (25-11, 25-10, 25-19) and with the win have an overall record of 12-3 on the season.  With the setback, Ohio Dominican fell to 7-8 overall and 2-5 in the GLIAC.

The Ferris State attack was led by sophomore outside hitter Alexis Huntey, who tallied 14 kills, nine digs, and two service aces.  FSU also received five kills and six digs from sophomore outside hitter Megan Vander Meer

FSU achieved offensive balance through freshman setter Stephanie Sikorski, who tallied a match-high 32 assists and added five kills and nine digs of her own.  Teammate Brandie Merren added a match-high 14 digs while adding five assists.

On the other side, middle hitter Lauren Kraemer led Ohio Dominican with 11 kills while teammates Bailey Barker and Lauren Rindler added eight digs apiece.  Setter Darby Slavin also stood out by adding 24 assists.

Ferris State finished with 42 kills, 40 assists, 49 digs and five team blocks while also adding five service aces.  FSU hit an astounding .650 in the first set and finished with a hitting percentage of .326 on the day. 

The Panthers were held to a .127 attack percentage and had 31 kills, 29 assists, 37 digs and two blocks.

The win was the eighth-straight for the Bulldogs this campaign and they remain as the lone unbeaten team in GLIAC action.

The Bulldogs will face their next test on the road on Friday night (Oct. 11) against an Ashland squad that finds itself on top of the GLIAC South Division standings.  Action will take place at 7 p.m. (ET) in Ashland, Ohio.
