Ferris State Volleyball Wins Fifth-Straight Match By Beating Malone

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally 15th-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball team ran its winning streak to five consecutive matches with a decisive 3-0 triumph over Malone on Saturday (Sept. 20) afternoon at the Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The Bulldogs rolled to a 25-11 win in the first frame and a 25-18 victory in set two before coming away with a 25-22 triumph in the third frame.

Ferris State hit .195 for the match, but limited Malone to a -.041 percentage. FSU had 34 kills and only 17 errors on 87 total attempts in comparison to the Pioneers' 24 kills and 28 mistakes on 97 tries.

A balanced Bulldog lineup was led by junior hitter Courtney Rehm's team-high nine kills.

Sophomore Megan Vander Meer added seven kills with junior Alexis Huntey totaling five kills. 
FSU also received 11 digs from sophomore libero Danielle Dowd with Vander Meer contributing seven and sophomore setter Stephanie Sikorski totaling seven digs.

Ferris State finished with 34 digs, three aces and six service errors while netting a solo block and 20 assisted efforts.

Meanwhile, Malone was paced by Taylor Slauterbeck's seven kills and Anna Hays contributed six kills. Slauterbeck also had a squad-best seven digs.

The Pioneers totaled 35 digs, two aces and eight service errors while posting six assisted blocks.
With the win, FSU moved to 6-2 overall and remained perfect at 4-0 in the GLIAC. Malone fell to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Ferris State will hit the road to face archrival Grand Valley State on Tuesday (Sept. 23) night at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena in Allendale. Match time is set for 7 p.m. (ET) and the contest can be heard live on Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network starting with pre-match coverage at 6:30 p.m.
