Ferris State's Danielle Dowd Claims All-Tourney Honors At Nation's Largest College Volleyball Event

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University junior libero Danielle Dowd (Manhattan, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) was recognized this past weekend as an All-Tournament Team selection for her efforts in the Bulldogs' appearance in the nation's largest collegiate volleyball tournament.

Dowd was among 12 selections on the all-tournament team at the seventh annual Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC)/Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Crossover Tournament held at the Great Lakes Center in Aurora, Ill.

In the nationally-ranked Bulldogs' three outings at the regional event, Dowd compiled 65 digs and averaged 21.7 digs per match. She totaled 21 digs in back-to-back contests against Indianapolis on Friday (Oct. 17) and Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday (Oct. 18) before wrapping up the event with 23 digs against Truman State (Mo.) late Saturday. She started all 12 sets for the Bulldogs at the event.

Presently, Dowd leads the Bulldogs in her first season as the squad's libero with 270 digs on the year. She's tallied 10 digs or more in 16 of FSU's 18 outings to date, including a personal career-high 31 digs earlier this year at rival Grand Valley State (Sept. 23). Overall, she's averaging a squad-best 4.35 digs per set and has added 15 assists and 15 service aces in 62 total sets.

The annual GLIAC/GLVC Crossover is the nation's largest collegiate volleyball tournament and took place at the Great Lakes Center in Aurora with 32 teams present, including 16 from each conference.

Ferris State returns home to host a pair of league matches this coming week inside FSU's Ewigleben Sports Arena in Big Rapids. The Bulldogs host Michigan Tech on Friday (Oct. 24) at noon before entertaining Northern Michigan on Saturday (Oct. 25) at 3 p.m. (ET).
