Bulldog Volleyball Rolls To Ninth-Straight Victory With Home Court Sweep

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad rolled to its ninth-straight win this season as the Bulldogs swept the Tiffin Dragons 3-0 on Saturday (Oct. 8) to wrap up a weekend homestand inside FSU's Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The Bulldogs improved to 13-5 overall and 7-1 in league action with the victory over the Dragons in front of the home fans in Big Rapids.

FSU won the opening frame 25-21 before taking a 25-19 victory in the second set followed by a 25-18 triumph in the third and final frame.

Ferris State hit .163 overall with 45 kills and 22 errors on 141 total attempts. The Bulldogs also compiled 83 digs to go with four aces, two block assists and a solo hit at the net.

Junior middle hitter Maria Kronner paced the Bulldogs with a match-high 13 kills while Ayanna Buckley added 11 kills in the FSU attack. Sophomore Katie Placek chipped in with eight kills overall for the Bulldogs.

Defensively, the Bulldogs received 23 digs from libero Lauren Reminga along with 16 from senior setter Stephanie Sikorski in addition to 14 by freshman Allyson Cappel and 11 apiece courtesy of Placek and Kaley Konjarevich. Sikorski posted 39 assists in the victory.

Tiffin was limited to a .108 hitting figure with 33 kills and 17 mistakes on 148 attacks. The Dragons notched 67 digs and had 10 block assists with a solo block and one ace in the setback.

Olivia Cobb led TU with eight kills and 21 digs while Emily Weithman contributed 22 assists and 10 digs.

Ferris State will take part in the annual Midwest Region Crossover next weekend (Oct. 14-15) with official pairings to be announced later this weekend.
