Bulldog Volleyball Rolls Past Northern Michigan As Streak Stays Alive

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball team made quick work of visiting Northern Michigan on Saturday (Oct. 29) as the Bulldogs rolled to their 16th consecutive victory with a 3-0 win over the Wildcats inside FSU's Ewigleben Sports Arena.

Ferris State swept NMU 25-20, 25-12 and 25-19 en route to improving to 20-5 overall and 11-1 in the GLIAC this season.

The Bulldogs were led by junior hitter Ayanna Buckley, who tallied a match-high 14 kills and added two block assists in the win. Freshman Allyson Cappel added nine kills and contributed seven digs.

Ferris State tallied 40 kills and hit .277 for the match with 39 digs, eight service aces, five blocks and only two service mistakes.

Along with Buckley and Cappel, FSU received 34 assists from senior setter Stephanie Sikorski. Sophomore Katie Placek chipped in with 12 digs  for FSU and Maria Kronner also posted two assists at the net on the block in a balanced Bulldog lineup.

Northern Michigan was limited to a .167 hitting figure and the Wildcats totaled 35 kills with 40 digs, four blocks and an ace in the setback.

Marta Fraga Guntin paced NMU with 11 kills while Rachel Braunschweig added 12 digs and Jami Hogeboom posted 30 assists.

With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 13-13 overall and 4-8 in the GLIAC.

Ferris State next hosts archrival Grand Valley State on Tuesday (Nov. 1) night inside the Ewigleben Sports Arena starting at 7 p.m. (ET).
