Ferris State Volleyball Wins Regular-Season Finale With Senior Day Triumph

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University volleyball team closed out the regular-season in style as the Bulldogs rolled past visiting Northwood to avenge their only Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) setback with a 3-0 triumph on Saturday (Nov. 12) afternoon inside FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena.

With the win, the Bulldogs also secured the top seed for the upcoming GLIAC Tournament and will host eighth-seeded rival Grand Valley State in quarterfinal-round play on Wednesday (Nov. 16) starting at 7 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids. A victory over the Lakers would also give FSU the right to host the league semifinals and finals on Nov. 19-20 at the Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The Bulldogs claimed the win over Northwood on Senior Day as FSU honored Kaley Konjarevich, Stephanie Sikorski and Jenna Way prior to the league tilt. Together, the trio led FSU to its third-straight GLIAC Championship this season and on the brink of concluding their careers with an NCAA Tournament berth each campaign.

Ferris State won all three sets against the Timberwolves in decisive fashion as the Bulldogs rolled to a 25-15, 25-13, 25-12 triumph for their 21st-straight victory. FSU is now 25-5 overall and completed GLIAC regular-season action with a 16-1 mark. The only loss was a league-opening setback to Northwood in Midland in September.

This time, however, the Timberwolves were no match for the Bulldogs as FSU recorded a .275 hitting figure and played 15 different players in the match. The Bulldogs had 34 kills and only 12 errors on 80 attacks while posting 41 digs, eight block assists and six aces in the win.

Junior Ayanna Buckley led FSu with a team-high 10 kills in the triumph and the Bulldogs also received nine digs from sophomore Katie Placek in a balanced victory. Buckley added three block assists while Sikorski tallied 28 assists in her final regular-season home contest. Both Konjarevich and libero Lauren Reminga served two aces on the FSU side.

Northwood finished with a -.022 hitting figure and the Timberwolves managed only 20 kills and 22 errors on 89 attacks. They finished with 30 digs, two block assists and only a single ace with six service mistakes in falling to 13-15 overall and 4-13 in GLIAC action.

Allison Getty paced NU with seven kills and 12 digs in the loss while Hailey Jones managed 13 assists.

Tickets for Wednesday night's league home quarterfinal will be sold at the door starting one hour prior to match time.
