Ferris State Volleyball Stays Perfect In GLIAC


Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. - The nationally #8 ranked Ferris State women's volleyball team swept the Lake Superior State Lakers 3-0 on Friday (Sept. 29) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Courtney Brewer earned a match-high 12 kills in the winning effort for Ferris State as the Bulldogs rolled 25-18, 25-20, 25-14 to stay atop the GLIAC at 6-0 in conference play.

Ferris State used several long scoring runs in route to victory, including a 9-3 run to end the first set, and an 8-2 run to open the middle frame.

The Bulldogs grappled with the Lakers in the final set to and pulled ahead to a 17-13 lead. FSU went on an 8-1 run to take the match and improve to 12-2 overall for the season.

Senior libero Lauren Reminga had 17 digs for Ferris State, as did Brewer. Redshirt freshman setter Maeve Grimes led all setters in the match with 33 assists.

For the match, Ferris State hit for a .288 attack percentage, as LSSU responded with a .103 attack percentage.

LSSU's Amanda Reid finished with seven kills and 11 digs, while Paige Gotham added 22 digs for the Lakers.

The Bulldogs head south next to take on the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals on Saturday (Sept. 30) at 2 pm (EST). The host Cardinals (3-11, 2-4) are coming off a loss to Northwood.
