Eighth-Ranked Bulldogs Top SVSU To Stay Atop GLIAC Volleyball Standings

Saginaw, Mich. - The nationally eighth-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball team swept the Saginaw Valley Cardinals in Saturday (Sept. 30) afternoon's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLAIC) match held at University Center, Mich.

Ferris State beat SVSU 3-0 with set scores of 25-12, 25-13 and 25-11 overall. Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Courtney Brewer led the team with 10 kills and a .304 hitting percentage. 
 
Senior Maria Kronner was close behind Brewer with nine kills and pulled off an impressive .900 hitting percentage for the night. Mekayla Carey had six kills along and Katie Placek had four kills to lead FSU to the victory.

The Bulldogs totaled 38 kills and 73 attacks on net for the match. Ferris hit .425 overall against the Cardinals.
 
Lauren Reminga led the team with a total of eight digs with Katie Placek right behind her with seven digs. Katie O'Connell had four digs and Maeve Grimes had five digs as well as 31 assists for the match. The team totaled 30 digs for the day. 
 
The Saginaw Valley State Cardinals leading hitter was Sarah Tabit with seven kills. Emily Nieman, Lindsay Jacobs and Abbie Toland all had five digs for the match. They had a total of 19 kills and 21 digs overall. 
 
Ferris State will host league rival Grand Valley State on Friday (Oct. 6) night at the Ewigleben Sports Arena. Match time is set for 7 p.m. (ET).

The Bulldogs are presently 13-2 overall and atop the GLIAC with a 7-0 league mark.
