Ferris State Volleyball To Host GLIAC Semifinals & Finals This Weekend

Big Rapids, Mich. - The top-seeded Ferris State University women's volleyball team will play host to the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Semifinals and Finals this Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 18-19) at the Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The Bulldogs, who are making their 20th-straight league tournament appearance dating back to 1998, beat eighth-seeded Ashland 3-0 in Wednesday night's quarterfinal-round in Big Rapids to reach the semifinals.

Ferris State will play the first semifinal match on Saturday starting at 3 p.m. (ET) against fifth-seeded Wayne State. Meanwhile, the second semifinal will begin at 5:30 p.m. (ET) as second-seeded Northern Michigan faces third-seeded Michigan Tech. The two semifinal winners will meet in the league tournament title match on Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. (ET).

Tickets for this weekend's semifinals will be sold at the door to the Ewigleben Sports Arena starting one hour prior to match time. Ticket prices for the GLIAC Tournament are $5 for adults or $3 for students, including FSU students, with a valid ID card. Children ages four and under are free.

The first 150 Ferris State students with a valid ID card will receive complimentary admission to Saturday's Bulldog semifinal at the door compliments of the Administration and Finance Office.

No complimentary passes will be issued per GLIAC Tournament guidelines and FSU's "Division II Pass for Two" will not be accepted for postseason contests.

Tickets can also be purchased online at StarTickets.com or in person at the FSU Athletics Ticket Office located inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex. The ticket office is open daily from 9 a.m. (ET) to 5 p.m. (ET).

The Bulldogs, who claimed the 2017 GLIAC Regular-Season Championship for the fourth-straight year, improved to 21-7 overall after the quarterfinal victory on Wednesday evening. FSU posted a league-best 13-3 mark in GLIAC regular-season action.

The nationally-ranked Bulldogs, who are seventh in this week's NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings, presently are 11-1 overall at home to date this season.

After conference tournament action is complete, the top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament with the top school likely to host regional action Nov. 30-Dec. 2. The winner of the GLIAC Tournament will receive the league's automatic bid with official NCAA Tournament selections set to be announced following conference tourney play.
