Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University senior libero Lauren Reminga (Hudsonville) and sophomore outside hitter Allyson Cappel (Tinley Park, Ill.) were both named to the 2017 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team following the Bulldogs' appearance in the big dance this past weekend.
A total of 12 individuals were named to the all-tournament team following the weekend event, which featured the region's eight best teams and was held at Neil Carey Arena on the campus of Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.
Reminga and Cappel helped the Bulldogs to the regional semifinals for the seventh-straight year and both had big weekends as the Bulldogs split two matches in their seventh consecutive NCAA appearance.
On Thursday (Nov. 30), Cappel compiled a team-best 18 kills with 10 digs while Reminga produced a match-high 22 digs and added three assists in the Bulldogs' 3-1 opening-round quarterfinal victory over fifth-seeded McKendree (Ill.).
In Friday's (Dec. 1) regional semifinals, Reminga tallied 34 digs with two assists while Cappel notched 19 kills, 20 digs and three aces in FSU's close 3-2 setback to top-seeded Lewis on the Flyers' home floor.
Ferris State made its seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament bid and has now advanced to at least the regional semifinals each of the last seven years. FSU's regional appearance this year represented the program's 22nd all-time.
In 2017, FSU closed the year with a 24-8 overall mark and also captured the program's fourth-straight GLIAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
This year marked the 16th time in 22 seasons under head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm in which FSU has claimed at least 20 victories in a campaign. The Bulldogs also made their 20th consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearance this season.
