Ferris State Volleyball Listed In Nation's Top 25 In Final AVCA D2 Poll

Big Rapids, Mich. - For the fifth consecutive year, the Ferris State University women's volleyball squad is ranked among the nation's top 25 teams at the end of the year as the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its final Division II Top 25 rankings on Monday.

The Bulldogs were listed 23rd overall in this season's final poll after reaching the NCAA Division II Midwest Region semifinals for the seventh-straight campaign in 2017.

This year's final top 25 ranking represents the 13th time in school history in which FSU has been tabbed among the country's top 25 programs at the end of the season, including the fifth consecutive year under head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm.

Ferris State was one of three schools from the Midwest Region listed in the final rankings this season along with Lewis (#5) and Midwest Regional champion Rockhurst (#11).

FSU was ranked among the top 25 teams in the country the entire 2017 season after starting the year ranked #14 in the AVCA preseason poll. Overall, the Bulldogs have now been found in the nation's top 25 a total of 165 times since the poll's inception, including 41 times in the top 10 overall.

Ferris State made its seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament bid and has now advanced to at least the regional semifinals each of the last seven years. FSU's regional appearance this year represented the program's 22nd all-time.

In 2017, FSU closed the year with a 24-8 overall mark and also captured the program's fourth-straight GLIAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. FSU became the first school to ever win four consecutive league tourney crowns this fall.

This year marked the 16th time in 22 seasons under Brandel-Wilhelm in which FSU has claimed at least 20 victories in a campaign. The Bulldogs also made their 20th consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearance this season.
