Bio
2017 (Sophomore): Played in 25 total sets and 13 matches for Ferris State, helped Bulldogs to their fourth consecutive GLIAC Championship Regular Season and Tournament Championship and third consecutive NCAA Regional appearance… had 29 kills and 11 total blocks on the season… had a season best of six kills against Cedarville on 9/1 and against Saginaw Valley State University on 9/30.
2016 (RS Freshman): Played in 75 sets over 25 matches, helped Bulldogs to their third consecutive GLIAC Regular Season and Tournament Championship and second consecutive NCAA Regional Final appearance…totaled 100 kills and 25 total blocks…had a season best eight kills at Wayne State on 10/22…had a season best six total blocks in the same match.
2015 (Freshman): Redshirted in 2015, helped Bulldogs to 2015 GLIAC regular season and tournament championships, as well as an NCAA Tournament Regional Final appearance.
Before Ferris State: Carey teamed up with fellow FSU teammate Kayla Rosman to help Morley-Stanwood achieve success in her prep career. The talented hitter played a variety of roles as the Mohawks won their fourth conference title and third district championship in her career. The all-state pick also received all-conference, all-area and all-region accolades as a prepster under head coach Robin Kozuch. Both Carey and Rosman traveled to Seattle as American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Prep Phenom selections.
The daughter of Dan and Dana Carey, Mekayla also competed in basketball and softball on the high school level.
