Ferris State Stays Unbeaten In GLIAC Volleyball Action

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally 13th-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball squad swept the Purdue Northwest Pride in Saturday (Sept. 8) afternoon's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match at the Ewigleben Sports Complex as the Bulldogs stayed perfect in league action.

The Bulldogs topped the Pride by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-15 in the victory. 

Ferris State totaled 43 kills on the day with a .298 hitting percentage. The Bulldogs also had 42 digs and six aces in the win. 

Junior outside hitter Allyson Cappel and middle hitter Mekayla Carey had 11 kills each while sophomore Katie O'Connell totaled kills. Freshman middle hitter Samantha Hermann also had four kills with a .667 hitting percentage.

Junior setter Maeve Grimes had 32 assists, four kills and an ace in the victory.

Purdue Northwest was led by Auburn Dodd with seven kills and Jenna Pasko with 11 digs in the second-ever series' matchup.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 7-3 on the year and 2-0 in the GLIAC.

Ferris State plays next on Tuesday (Sept. 11) as FSU visits Northwood for a 7 p.m. (ET) league match in Midland.
