#9 Ferris State Volleyball Sweeps Northwood To Stay Unbeaten In The GLIAC

Big Rapids, Mich. - Nationally ninth-ranked Ferris State University volleyball stayed perfect in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) standings as FSU topped Northwood 3-0 in league play on Saturday (Oct. 19) at the Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The host Bulldogs swept the Timberwolves in strong fashion with a 25-19, 25-7 and 25-21 win to move to 19-4 overall and 12-0 in the GLIAC. NU fell to 8-15 overall and 3-9 in league play with the loss.

The Bulldogs received 11 kills from junior outside hitter Allyson Cappel in a balanced effort with sophomore Katie O'Connell adding eight kills along with seven from middle hitter Mekayla Carey.

Overall, FSU hit .226 for the afternoon with 38 kills and only 14 errors on 106 total attacks. The Bulldogs also finished with 57 digs, 16 block assists, a solo block and five aces.

O'Connell added 15 digs in the Bulldog triumph with senior libero Katie Placek totaling 11 overall. Junior setter Maeve Grimes dished out 29 assists and Samantha Hermann had four block assists at the net.

The Timberwolves were led by Grace Rekeweg's team-high eight kills in the loss. She also had a team-high tying 10 digs as did Brenna Murphy. Macy Lintz notched 16 assists.

Northwood was held to a .000 attack figure as the Timberwolves compiled both 22 kills and 22 attack errors. They finished with 43 digs, four block assists, a solo block and three aces as FSU dominated the stat sheet.

The Bulldogs will hit the road for two league outings next weekend as they visit Saginaw Valley State on Friday (Oct. 26) for a 7 p.m. (ET) tilt in University Center before heading to Sault Ste. Marie to face Lake Superior State on Saturday (Oct. 27) at 2 p.m. (ET).
