Ferris State Volleyball Caps Off Unbeaten Weekend With Road Win At Davenport

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad, ranked 14th nationally, rolled to a 3-0 win over Davenport on Saturday (Oct. 12) in Caledonia to cap off an unbeaten weekend.

The Bulldogs made quick work of the Panthers by taking a 25-16, 25-22, 26-24 win at the DU Student Center.

With the victory, Ferris State improved to 14-3 overall this year and 8-1 in the GLIAC.

Senior hitter Allyson Cappel produced a match-high 22 kills while senior Courtney Brewer added nine kills and Morgan Ross totaled eight kills.

The Bulldogs also received 43 assists from senior Maeve Grimes along with 16 digs by Nina Gorgijevska and 11 from Brewer. Lauren Helsen added nine digs overall.

FSU hit .388 for the match and also totaled 12 block assists with two solo blocks at the net. The Bulldogs had two service aces to go with 53 digs.

Davenport was led by Hayley Kreiger, who finished with 13 kills.

The Panthers were limited to a .188 hitting figure with 38 digs and five aces. They also had seven service errors.

The Bulldogs will compete in the 2019 Midwest Regional Crossover next Friday and Saturday (Oct. 18-19) in Indianapolis. Official match pairings and times will be announced soon.
