Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad bounced back in impressive fashion, beating Northwood in a 3-0 home sweep on Saturday (March 20) at the Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The Bulldogs, who had dropped Friday's opening match of the home-and-home set against NU in Midland, came back to notch a 28-26, 25-23 and 25-18 triumph over the Timberwolves. In both of the first two sets, FSU trailed late before rallying to garner the win.

Ferris State played both matches this weekend minus a couple of key performers due to injury, including All-America hitter Katie O'Connell.

In O'Connell's absence on Saturday, FSU got a big performance from freshman outside hitter Keona Salesman, who posted a match-high 16 kills. Middle hitter Kira Merkle added 11 kills while Audrey Bellina stepped in and contributed eight kills overall.

Ferris State hit .234 for the match while limiting NU to a .146 attack figure.

Bulldog libero Nina Gorgijevska notched 27 digs in the win with Bellina adding 13 digs and setter Kaylee Maat 10. Additionally, Maat had 41 assists for Ferris State.

Northwood was led by Maya Ferland and Mary Gallagher with nine kills apiece.

With the weekend split, both teams now hold identical 6-4 records in the GLIAC.

The Bulldogs will visit Parkside next weekend to face the Rangers in Kenosha, Wis. The opening match on Friday (March 26) is slated for a 8 p.m. (ET) start with the finale on Saturday (March 27) scheduled for 3 p.m. (ET).
