Ferris State Caps Off Perfect Upper Peninsula Weekend With Sweep At LSSU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad capped off a perfect road trip with a 3-0 sweep over Lake Superior State on Sunday (Sept. 18) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Bulldogs claimed the league triumph at the James Norris Center with a convincing 25-23, 25-16, 25-18 decision to finish the Upper Peninsula weekend swing with an unbeaten 3-0 mark.

Ferris State also stayed on top of the GLIAC standings with the win, moving to 5-0 overall as the league's only remaining unbeaten squad. The Bulldogs have now won seven consecutive matches and own a 7-6 record to date this season.

Sophomore Claire Nowicki led the way for FSU with a match-high 13 kills to go with six digs. She was joined in double-digits by Olivia Henneman-Dallape with 11 kills. Meanwhile, Emma Bleecher added nine kills for the Bulldogs and also had nine digs.

FSU sophomore setter Kaylee Maat finished with 33 assists and 10 digs while libero Leah Bylut tallied a team-leading 16 digs. Alina Anderson added 10 digs for FSU to go with a squad-best two service aces.

Ferris State compiled a .262 attack percentage on the strength of 39 kills and only 11 attack errors on 107 total attempts. The Bulldogs also netted 54 digs and produced four block assists, two solo blocks and two aces.

The Lakers were led by Taylor Fleming with eight kills. Emily Kalinowski totaled 24 assists and a team-high 10 digs. LSSU was limited to a .070 attack percentage, finishing with 32 kills and 23 attack errors on 115 attempts. The Lakers compiled 47 digs with four block assists, three solo blocks and three aces.

Ferris State continues a six-match league road swing next weekend as FSU visits Davenport on Friday (Sept. 23) for a 7 p.m. (ET) conference tilt in Caledonia before heading to Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Sept. 24) to face the Cardinals in GLIAC play at 4 p.m. (ET) in University Center.
