#22 Ferris State Volleyball Rallies in Road Victory Over Davenport 3-2 to Remain Unbeaten in GLIAC Play

Caledonia, Mich. – The nationally #22-ranked Ferris State University volleyball team overcame an early deficit against Davenport to win 3-2 against the Panthers on Saturday (Sept. 23).

The Bulldogs (9-3) traveled to Caledonia to face the Panthers in their fourth Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest of the season. With 25-13 and 15-11 victories in sets four and five, respectively, FSU overcame a 2-1 deficit to beat Davenport.

After falling in the first set 25-23, FSU claimed the second set 25-20. With the score tied 1-1, set three required 33 points from Davenport to earn a win. The Bulldogs headed into the fourth set down 2-1.

FSU responded with a decisive 25-13 win to force a fifth set. They emerged from the final set victorious 15-11 behind a strong .286 attack percentage in the set and earned a hard-fought GLIAC victory over the Panthers.

Junior Claire Nowicki was dominant in the Bulldog win. She recorded a team-high 21 points with 15 kills on 41 total attacks (.317 K%), three service aces, 16 digs and five total blocks. Olivia Henneman-Dallape contributed 13 kills and Chelsie Freeman had 10 with seven total blocks.

Setter Kaylee Maat finished with a game-high 45 assists and had 16 digs and three service aces. Leah Bylut led the Bulldogs with 26 digs.

Davenport got 23 points from Lindsay Taylor in the loss. She had a game-high 22 kills. Stephanie Kalinowski had 37 digs for the Panthers and Ola Nowak had four service aces.

For the game, the Bulldogs had a .207 attack percentage, 86 digs, 58 kills, and 19 total blocks. Davenport had a .147 kill percentage, 96 digs, 62 kills and eight total blocks.

The Bulldogs will be back in action for more GLIAC play next weekend at Northern Michigan on Friday, Sept. 29, and at Michigan Tech on Saturday, Sept. 300. FSU then closes the three-match trip on Sunday (Oct. 1) at Lake Superior State.
