Ferris State Completes Upper Peninsula Sweep With Decisive Victory Over LSSU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nation's 21st-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball squad capped off a weekend sweep in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with a decisive 3-0 triumph over Lake Superior State on Sunday (Oct. 1) in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Bulldogs claimed a 25-21, 25-15, 25-21 win while moving to 12-3 overall and a perfect 7-0 in the GLIAC.

Ferris State won its seventh consecutive match and the 3-0 sweep was the Bulldogs' third in as many days after first starting the trip to the Upper Peninsula with identical wins over Northern Michigan on Friday and Michigan Tech on Saturday.

The Bulldogs were led in Sunday's contest by Olivia Henneman-Dallape with 13 kills. Middle hitter Syann Fairfield chipped in with nine kills while Claire Nowicki had six in the FSU victory.

Overall, the Bulldogs racked up 42 kills in the match on 106 attempts with only 14 attack errors, hitting .264 for the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Ferris State also came up with 45 digs, including 10 by libero Leah Bylut and 12 from Nowicki. Hannah Tecumseh added seven digs. Setter Kaylee Maat finished with 31 assists while Fairfield registered a team-high six block assists.

On the opposite side of the net, LSSU posted a .131 attack figure, finishing with 30 kills and 17 attack mistakes on 99 tries. The Lakers netted 41 digs and also had 10 service errors in the contest.

Lake Sueprior State was led by Emilee McDaniel's team-high eight kills. Ally Lasley had 13 digs and Emily Kalinowski finished with 21 assists.

The Bulldogs will return home to host Davenport on Friday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. (ET) inside Bulldog Arena. FSU then takes on Saginaw Valley State at home on Saturday, Oct. 7, starting at 5 p.m. (ET).
