Ferris State Volleyball Cruises to 3-0 Victory Over Davenport

Big Rapids, Mich. – The Ferris State University women's volleyball team earned its eighth-straight victory with a 3-0 win over Davenport University on Friday (Oct. 6).

FSU (13-3) returned to Big Rapids after a five-match road trip to collect the Bulldogs' eighth Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) win of the season. Following a strong 25-18 win in the first set, Davenport fought hard in set two, but the Bulldogs emerged with a 25-23 win. Ferris State wrapped up the evening with a dominant 25-11 win the third set to complete the 3-0 sweep of DU.

In the victory, Ferris got 10 kills from Olivia Henneman-Dallape, seven from Syann Fairfield and six from Claire Nowicki. Kaylee Maat had 24 assists and seven digs. Leah Bylut led the way with 16 digs. 

Chelsie Freeman recorded five block assists and two solo blocks. Fairfield, Maat, Henneman-Dallape and Nowicki each had two block assists.

As a team, the Bulldogs had 34 kills on 109 total attacks (.193 K%), 42 digs and 10 aces. Emma Bleecher led the way with three aces.

Davenport got nine kills from freshman Abby Alan. Nicole Odeen had 21 assists and Stephanie Kalinowski had 17 digs. 

The Bulldogs played the Panthers in Caledonia on Sept. 22 and won in five sets, so their victory over Davenport Friday earned them a regular-season sweep of the Panthers. They also remain atop the GLIAC standings.

FSU will be back at homeon Saturday (Oct. 7) to face the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals. Match time is set for 5 p.m. in Bulldog Arena.
