Ferris State Wins Opening Two Matches At Midwest Region Crossover

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad stretched its winning streak to 11-straight on Friday (Oct. 13) as the Bulldogs opened action in the Midwest Region Crossover with a pair of victories in Hammond, Ind.

The Bulldogs topped Indianapolis 3-0 in the opener and came back to record a 3-1 win over Findlay in the second match of the day.

In the opener, the Bulldogs made quick work of the Greyhounds with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-10 win.

Olivia Henneman-Dallape led the Bulldogs against UIndy with 10 kills in the match while Emma Bleecher contributed nine kills and Claire Nowicki chipped in eight kills. Syann Fairfield also had six kills to help the FSU cause.

Defensively, in the win over UIndy, FSU's Leah Bylut tallied 16 digs with Kaylee Maat and Nowicki both notching nine digs. Maat had 28 assists and Chelsie Freeman posted a solo block and three assists at the net. The trio of Henneman-Dallape along with Bylut and Bleecher each also had two service aces apiece.

In match two, Ferris State won the opening set over Findlay 25-17 before the Oilers took the second frame 25-16. FSU came back for wins of 25-17 and 25-19 in garnering the victory.

Henneman-Dallape posted a team-high 17 kills with Freeman netting nine kills and Fairfield eight in the second match of the day. Bylut finished with 18 digs while both Maat and Bleecher had 13 each. Freeman again led FSU at the net with a solo block and three assists while Maat finished with three aces and Bleecher had two.

Ferris State is slated to hit the court again on Saturday (Oct. 14) at 3 p.m. (ET) for one final match at the nation's largest collegiate tournament.

FSU is now 16-3 overall following day one competition in the event.
