Ferris State Volleyball Advances To GLIAC Tourney Semifinals With Home Sweep

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad advanced to the 2023 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals with a 3-0 sweep over visiting Purdue Northwest on Wednesday (Nov. 15) night during quarterfinal-round play at Bulldog Arena.

With the win, the second-seeded Bulldogs will advance to face third-seeded Parkside on Saturday (Nov. 18) afternoon at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena in Allendale starting at 4:30 p.m. (ET). The title match is set for Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs handled the Pride 25-12 in the opening set and took the second frame 25-20 before closing the match with a 25-16 triumph in the third frame. The win lifted FSU to 23-7 overall this year.

Junior Olivia Henneman-Dallape paced the Bulldogs with a team-high 11 kills while Claire Nowicki chipped in with 10 kills in a balanced effort. The Bulldogs also got 26 assists from Kaylee Maat with Nowicki posting a squad-best 13 digs and Kenzy Corstange recording 12 digs.

Overall, the Bulldogs compiled a .241 hitting percentage with 39 kills and only 13 attack errors on 108 attempts. FSU added 60 digs and finished with 10 block assists and two solo blocks at the net. The Bulldogs also had four service aces.

Purdue Northwest was limited to a .026 attack percentage in falling to FSU for the third time this season. The Pride posted 23 kills and 20 errors on 114 attacks while finishing with 51 digs, eight block assists and single service ace.

Area Cottrell had a match-high tying 11 kills for the visitors and Marina Gronkiewicz finished with 13 assists while Livia Thomsen had 14 digs.
