Ferris State Volleyball Advances To GLIAC Tourney Championship Match

Allendale, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad advanced to the 2023 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Championship match by beating Parkside 3-0 on Saturday (Nov. 18) in Alllendale.

The second-seeded Bulldogs topped the third-seeded Rangers 26-24, 25-13, 25-21 to reach the title match. FSU will face host and top-seeded Grand Valley State in the final on Sunday (Nov. 19) beginning at 2 p.m. (ET) inside the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.

In Saturday's semifinal win, the Bulldogs were paced by junior Olivia Henneman-Dallape with 17 kills. Middle hitter Syann Fairfield added seven kills and Claire Nowicki tallied six kills in the triumph.

Junior setter Kaylee Maat finished the contest with 32 assists and also produced an ace and three blocks. Fairfield led FSU at the net with four blocks and Chelsie Freeman registered three.

Defensively, Leah Bylut garnered nine digs for FSU and Nowicki finished the night with eight.

Parkside got 17 kills from Ava Irvin and 32 assists by Karlee Lois in addition to a team-high 12 digs by Natalie Harris.

The Bulldogs totaled 39 kills in the contest along with 47 digs, eight blocks and three aces. UWP totaled 34 kills and came up with 44 digs while notching four blocks and a single ace.

Overall, Ferris State is making its 26th consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearance this year dating back to 1998. FSU has won eight of the last nine GLIAC Tournament Championships heading into Sunday's final match.

Sunday's championship match will be streamed live on a pay-per-view basis by FloSports.
