Ferris State Volleyball landed a proven and experienced coach as Ryan Campbell was tabbed as the Bulldogs' new full-time assistant coach in April 2019.

Campbell previously spent the past 10 seasons as the head women's volleyball coach at Cornerstone University in West Michigan where he posted a 264-117 overall record and led the Golden Eagles to three consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances the past three seasons (2016-18).

"We are excited to add Ryan Campbell to our volleyball staff," said Brandel-Wilhelm. "he's a student of the game and a tireless worker. His years of experience as a head coach have given him a strong foundation of the game.

"Ryan knows how to run a program to compete at the highest levels in the country and we are fortunate to land a coach with the experience and knowledge he brings," she added.

A Cornerstone University alum, Campbell spent 15 years with the Golden Eagles as a student assistant and coach. He led the Golden Eagles to three Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championships, including the regular-season title in 2016 and the league tournament titles each of the past two years (2017-18). The longest serving coach in CU history, Campbell departed Cornerstone as the program's all-time winningest coach. He mentored five NAIA All-Americans along with the WHAC Player of the Year, Setter of the Year and Libero of the Year in his tenure.

While at Cornerstone, Campbell led the Golden Eagles to 35 consecutive home court wins and a NAIA top 10 national ranking. His squad led the conference in blocking from 2015-18 and averaged 26 wins a season since 2009. Cornerstone posted 16 wins over top 25 foes in his stint and was awarded the Buffalo Funds Five-Star Champions of Character Team Award.

In addition to being the program's winningest coach, Campbell was chosen as both the WHAC Coach of the Year and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Mideast Region Coach of the Year in 2016. He was a AVCA "30 Under 30" recipient in 2009 along with being the WHAC Coach of Character Award winner. While at CU, he led team mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.

Along with his coaching experience at Cornerstone, Campbell has coached at 10 NCAA Division I camps, including Penn State, Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, Hawaii, Purdue, Illinois, Notre Dame, Central Michigan and Bowling Green. He also has 12 years of club coaching experience and began his career as an assistant at Cornerstone before being chosen as the program's head coach.

A 2009 Cornerstone graduate, Campbell and his wife, Rachel, have a son, Thomas. He also earned his Master's Degree from CU in 2015.
