Bulldog Cross Country Competes In One Of Nation's Largest Events In Louisville

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams jumped back into action on Saturday (Sept. 30) by taking part in the prestigious Greater Louisville Classic held in Louisville, Ky.

The meet annually ranks as one of the largest and most competitive events across the country.

The Bulldog women placed 10th overall in the Blue Division field while the men's squad came in 16th overall.

Kathryn Etelamaki led the Bulldog women's team as she came in 10th overall in a time of 18:06.14. Next in line for FSU was Sydney Dawes, who was 47th in scoring position as she clocked 19:02.55 on the 5K course.

The Bulldogs' Carissa Schurr was 63rd overall in the team race in a time of 19:14.12 with Kelly Babcock only seven places behind at 19:21.01 for the event. Abigail Johnson came in fifth among FSU's runners at 84th overall as she was clocked in 19:27.32.

On the men's side, senior Trevor Holowaty scored in fifth place in a time of 25:08.44 in leading the Bulldogs. Teammate Casey Neal was 43rd at 26:01.62 with Damien Halverson 88th at 26:36.88 overall.

FSU's Zach McKenzie was 115th (26:58.58) with Mark Jacobs 127th (27:05.74).

The Bulldogs are next back in action on Oct. 7 at the Conference Crossover in Romeoville, Ill.
