Ferris State Cross Country Teams Finish 2nd And 4th At Warrior Challenge

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country squads got back in action on Saturday (Oct. 20) as they held their final tune-up for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships by taking part in the Warrior Challenge hosted by Wayne State University.

The event took place at Chestnut Grove at Willow Metro Park. The Bulldog women garnered runner-up honors in the eight-team field while the men's squad placed fourth overall.

In the women's competition, FSU finished with 46 total points in placing second behind Wayne State, which totaled 28 points.

Junior Katie Etelamaki led the Bulldogs as she earned runner-up honors individually in a time of 22:03.6 on the 6K course.

The Bulldogs' next four finishers also placed among the top 15 overall with sophomore Jennifer Eaton in ninth place (23:43.5) followed by freshman Hannah Loucks in 10th place (23:43.9). FSU senior Jordan Lee came in 12th (23:51.9) and freshman Paige Deitering was 13th (23:54.3).

The Bulldog men totaled 102 total points in finishing fourth and were led by senior Damien Halverson, who came in fourth overall in a time of 25:45.0 on the 8K course.

Behind Halverson was senior Zach Mckenzie in 21st place at 26:56.6 with sophomore Mark Jacobs taking 30th place (27:19.7). Sophomore Weston Rackley finished 33rd (27:22.1) and sophomore Aaron Jarema came in 39th (27:31.9).

The Bulldogs will take part in the 2018 GLIAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 3, in Grand Rapids.
