Total Of 84 Ferris State Student-Athletes Honored For Fall Academic Success

Big Rapids, Mich. - A total of 84 Ferris State University student-athletes have achieved Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic & All-Academic Excellence Team honors for the recently-completed 2019 fall athletics campaign as announced by the league office and presented by Meijer.

The 84 Bulldog student-athletes represent six varsity programs, including football, volleyball, women's soccer, women's tennis, women's cross country and men's cross country.

Overall, a total of 884 student-athletes achieved all-academic recognition from across the 12 conference member institutions this past fall.

Ferris State had 32 student-athletes tabbed to the GLIAC All-Academic Team and another 52 who received GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team recognition.

The Bulldogs' total honorees included 28 individuals from the women's soccer program, which represented nearly every eligible student-athlete on one of the two selected teams. Another 21 honorees came from the national semifinalist football program with the Bulldogs' also garnering 13 mentions in women's cross country, nine by the conference champion volleyball squad, seven from women's tennis in addition to six from men's cross country.

Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, not a freshman or a first year transfer student. All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0-3.49. Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student athletes that have a cumulative GPA of 3.50-4.0. Grades are based on marks from the fall semester of 2018.
