Total Of 70 Ferris State Spring Student-Athletes Honored By GLIAC For Academic Success

Big Rapids, Mich. - A total of 70 Ferris State University student-athletes have achieved Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic & All-Academic Excellence Team honors for the 2022 spring athletics campaign as announced by the league office.

The 70 Bulldog student-athletes represent seven varsity programs, including softball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis along with men's and women's outdoor track and field.

Overall, a total of 911 student-athletes achieved all-academic recognition from across the conference member institutions this past spring season.

Ferris State had 21 student-athletes tabbed to the GLIAC All-Academic Team and another 49 who received GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team recognition.

Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, not a freshman or a first year transfer student. All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0-3.49. Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student athletes that have a cumulative GPA of 3.50-4.0. Grades are based on marks from the fall semester.

Overall, the Bulldog Softball program led the way in the spring with 16 honorees, including a FSU-best 14 excellence picks. The women's track and field squad finished with 15 recipients with men's track and field garnering 12 honorees. The men's tennis team racked up eight awards with women's tennis finishing with seven winners while both the men's and women's golf teams each had six individuals on the list.

In total, the Bulldogs finished the 2021-22 athletics season with a total of 195 student-athletes featured on either the fall, winter or spring all-academic teams based on the sport. The 195 recipients included 129 GLIAC All-Academic Excellence picks in addition to 66 all-academic winners.

All-Academic and Scholar-Athletes selections for FSU's NCAA Division I men's ice hockey program have yet to be announced.
