Ferris State Athletics Appoints Cedric Frierson To Revenue Generation and Advancement Position

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University Athletics has announced the appointment of Cedric Frierson as the Bulldogs' new Coordinator of Revenue Generation and Advancement. The announcement was made by FSU Athletics Director Steve Brockelbank.

A former collegiate football student-athlete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Frierson recently began his duties at FSU and will coordinate new revenue generation initiatives while working closely with the school's University Advancement and Marketing department.

"We're excited to add Cedric to our staff and believe he'll be a big addition as we continue to generate positive momentum for our programs," Brockelbank said. "This position will have a big impact on our operation and is critical to the success we have.

"Cedric is a former student-athlete in our conference and will be a great addition," he added.

Frierson graduated from Ashland University in 2020 with a bachelor of science degree in sport management and is in the process of finishing his master's degree in higher education administration from Tiffin University.

While at Ashland, Frierson was a member of the Eagles' football team from 2016-20, helping AU to a GLIAC Championship. He was also a member of the sports business club.

After graduating from Ashland, Frierson served as the assistant director of club and recreation sports at Tiffin University in 2021-22 where he assisted in the coordination and administration of the overall program. He also helped recruit student-athletes and served as the head coach of the school's flag football team in addition to scheduling and maintaining off-campus facilities.

Most recently, Frierson worked as the director of youth development for the Hilliard/Ray Patch Family YMCA near Columbus, Ohio. In that role, he helped establish new program activities and expanded programs within the community. He also hired and supervised part-time counseling staff and coaches while developing and managing program budges to meet fiscal objectives. Additionally, he developed and maintained collaborative relationships with various community organizations.

In addition to his more recent roles, Frierson has served as an activation intern with the Columbus Crew professional soccer team and served as a camp counselor for the Westerville Community Center. He also worked with the Salvation Army in Ashland and has served as a youth sports coach and referee.
