The Bowling Green State University women's golf team improved by nine shots on the final day at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, but dropped to finish third among 15 teams. The two-day event was played at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.

As Sunday began BGSU and Detroit were tied for the tournament lead, but the Titans carded a 296, 14 shots better than any other team in the field in the final 18 holes of action. Detroit used that Sunday score to win the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational with a score of 618. They were followed by Indianapolis (633) and BGSU (635). Other Mid-American Conference schools included Northern Illinois (645, 5th) and Ohio (647, 7th).

Individually, Amy Ruthenberg finished ninth of 92 golfers with a 36-hole score of 158. The senior began Sunday with a share of the tournament lead, opening with a 77, but fired an 81 on Sunday.

The other four Falcons either matched or improved upon their Sunday score. Bailey Arnold improved by six shots, shooting a 77 on Sunday. The junior would finish the tournament with a 160, tied for 16th.

Also competing for the Falcons were Shelby Wilson (80-80--160, T-16th), Lily Bartell (84-76--160, T-16th) and Hannah Lewis (82-80--162, T-27th).

The Falcons' “B” team finished 12th with a team score of 674 (350-324). Leading the way were Patricia Holt (87-74--161, T-21st) and Lauren Diehl (91-77--168, T-51st) on Sunday. Holt matched her career-low, while Diehl smashed her best round as a Falcon.

Also posting scores were Kelsey Benson (82-84--166, T-44th), Julia Hoffman (90-89--179, 80th) and Jen Blanchard (103-94--197, 91st).

BGSU will conclude the regular season at the Angola Shootout in Angola, Ind., on April 20. The following week the Orange and Brown will compete at the MAC Championships in Nashport, Ohio on April 26-28.
