Big Rapids, Mich. - After a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II National Quarterfinals last fall, attendance is expected to be high and spots are filling up fast for the 35th annual Ferris State University football Golf Outing, which takes place on Saturday, June 9, at Clear Lake Golf Club near Big Rapids.

Less than two months remain and time is running out fast for individuals interested in taking part in the four-person shotgun scramble, which is sponsored by the FSU Gridiron Club in conjunction with the Bulldog Athletic Association (BAA). It serves as one of the Ferris State football program's primary fundraising events. The shotgun start will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Bulldog Football golf outing returns to Clear Lake for the fifth-straight year after a strong turnout each of the past four years, which has helped create momentum for FSU's four consecutive NCAA postseason playoff appearances.

The golf outing will get underway with registration and lunch on June 9 starting at 11 a.m. (ET). The rules meeting will begin shortly after with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. (ET). Following golf will be a cocktail hour with the evening dinner served in the clubhouse at Clear Lake at approximately 6:30 p.m. (ET). Door prizes, auction, raffle and awards will follow the evening meal with a social at Buffalo Wild Wings in Big Rapids later in the evening. A great package of team and individual prizes will be awarded for winners in several divisions.

The cost for this year's event is $125 per player for golf, which also includes greens fees and a power cart, along with lunch and a steak dinner. In addition, several sponsorship packages are available.

Contributions and proceeds from the event directly contribute to the continued success of the Ferris State football program. Individuals are encouraged to submit their registration forms along with complete payment as soon as possible or by May 24 to guarantee participation in the football golf outing. Checks may be made payable to Ferris State University with "Football Outing" in the memo.

For questions about this year's golf outing, please contact Football Golf Outing Chair Bill Scheible at 231-796-7135 (work) or 231-796-3305 (home).

The Bulldogs will begin their 110th season of varsity competition this coming fall with their sights set on making a fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

Along with reaching the NCAA Division II National Quarterfinals in 2017 for the second consecutive year, the Bulldogs also made their fourth-straight trip to the D2 Playoffs and posted an 11-2 record, marking the first time in school history in which FSU has won 11 games or more in four-straight seasons. Last summer, Hero Sports picked FSU as Michigan's Best College Football program regardless of division.

Over the last four seasons at Ferris State, the Bulldogs have compiled a 45-7 overall record and made four consecutive NCAA Playoff appearances, claimed two conference championships, posted two unbeaten regular-seasons, twice made the national quarterfinals, captured a regional title and reached the national semifinals. Ferris State has also accumulated two Harlon Hill National Player of the Year trophies, twice had a student-athlete tabbed as the nation's National Scholar-Athlete of the Year and won six postseason games.

In the six seasons under Annese, the Bulldogs have become a national power on the Division II level. FSU has posted a 60-14 overall mark in the last six years and the Bulldogs have also posted the best winning percentage of all 21 collegiate programs in the state of Michigan along with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) since his arrival. Twice he's been tabbed as the Super Region Coach of the Year at Ferris State.

Overall, Annese has won 83% of his games as a head coach on the collegiate and prep levels and owns 285 wins to date, which is the most of any current GLIAC member head coach at all levels.

Ferris State will return nearly 50 letterwinners for the 2018 campaign.
