Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University junior offensive guard Lawrence Hattar (Livonia/Churchill), who helped FSU claim the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championship, has been chosen to the first-ever Walter Camp Division II Football All-America Team.

Walter Camp, "The Father of American football," first selected an All-America team in 1889 and is the nation's oldest college football All-America Team. However, this year represents the first time in which a D2 All-America squad has been chosen. Camp – a former Yale University athlete and football coach – is also credited with developing play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries and the restriction of play to eleven men per side.

The Walter Camp Football Foundation – a New Haven-based all-volunteer group – was founded in 1967 to perpetuate the ideals of Camp and to continue the tradition of selecting annually an All-America team.

The Walter Camp Football Foundation is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA). The NCFAA was founded in 1997 as a coalition of the major collegiate football awards to protect, preserve and enhance the integrity, influence and prestige of the game's predominant awards. The NCFAA encourages professionalism and the highest standards for the administration of its member awards and the selection of their candidates and recipients.

Previously, Hattar earned D2Football.com All-America First Team honors this year and was also tabbed to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) D2 All-America First Team squad. He appeared in all 15 games this year for the Bulldogs as a starter at left guard and was one of three FSU offensive linemen to earn All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team laurels.

Hattar helped lead Ferris State to a 14-1 overall record this fall and the school's third NCAA D2 National Championship in the past four seasons. The Bulldogs also claimed the GLIAC Regular Season Championship and the Super Region Three crown this campaign.
