Bio

The 5-10 Tinsley, who prepped at Detroit Western High School, spent the 2016-17 season on the junior college level at Schoolcraft Community College under coach Abe Mashhour. He averaged 12.2 points per contest in 29 games while shooting better than 47% from the floor, ranking as the number two scorer for Michigan's junior college champion.

"Armani is a player we have been recruiting since high school and we are excited to finally have him," said FSU head coach Andy Bronkema, who was chosen as both the GLIAC and NCAA Division II Midwest Region Coach of the Year this past campaign. "He has played on some highly successful teams and has a combination of skills that are hard to find.

"His ability to play on ball defense and shoot efficiently are among his best attributes as a player," he added. "He will have three years remaining and we are looking forward to his Bulldog career."

Tinsley won a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Class A State Championship at Detroit Western where he was an all-state honoree for coach Derrick McDowell. This past year, he helped guide Schoolcraft to the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) state crown while garnering All-MCCAA Eastern Conference and Defensive Team accolades.

This past year, Tinsley also attained National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Player of the Week honors and ranked 17th in the country in three-point percentage (47.1%) along with 23rd in steals (2.5 spg.). He also shot 73.3% from the free throw line and pulled down 3.3 rebounds per contest. Along with his prep and junior college career, he also played on the AAU level for the REACH Legends squad.
