Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad took on past standouts Sunday (Oct. 21) during the program's annual Alumni Game and registered a 120-86 triumph in the preseason tilt at Jim Wink Arena.

The defending national champion Bulldogs put up 63 points in the first half and scored another 57 in the second frame to knock off the stars from the past.

The talented Alumni squad featured 17 past standouts, including a pair of starters from last year's NCAA Division II National Championship team in wings Noah King and Peter Firlik. Former professional players such as Terrance Shaw, Jared Stolicker, Drew Lehman, Matt Stoll, Josh Fleming and Jerrell Sanders also competed in addition to another recently-graduated senior regular from last season's title team in TyQuone Greer among others.

This year's current team shot over 60% from the floor in the first half and finished at 55.6% for the game while knocking down 17-of-34 three's (50%) and 13-of-14 (92.9%) free throws.

Junior guard Greg Williams and sophomore Armani Tinsley both tallied 16 points for the Bulldogs with senior center Cole Walker notching 13 points and freshman Randy Gilbert pouring in 11 points. FSU also got 10 points each from senior guard DeShaun Thrower in addition to freshmen D'Juan Seal and Ben Davidson.

Ferris State outrebounded the Alumni 52-30 on the glass and came up with 11 offensive rebounds in the victory. Sophomore Michael Peterson had a team-high six boards with Walker, senior center Taylor Adway and freshman post Mason Pline adding five apiece.

The Alumni shot 45.3% from the floor and hit eight-of-26 (30.8%) from downtown and 10-of-19 (52.6%) at the charity stripe. They were led by Fleming with 11 points and Stoll, who finished with 10 points. Lehman added nine points in the setback.

Overall, the Bulldogs played 16 guys and the Alumni 17 and all but three scored in the game. The two teams distributed the ball well with FSU notching 36 assists and the Alumni totaling 25 in the contest. The alums tallied 41 points on the break and both teams registered 50 points inside the paint.

The victory was the second consecutive preseason win this weekend for the Bulldogs, who also topped Grand Rapids Community College by a 104-63 count on Friday (Oct. 19) evening.

Ferris State will play its final preseason exhibition game on Saturday, Oct. 27, as the defending national champions visit a perennial NCAA Division I power in the Duke Blue Devils with tipoff set for 4 p.m. (ET) at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C.

The game at Duke will be carried live by flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network online at FerrisStateBulldogs.com with Rob Bentley and Sandy Gholston calling the play-by-play action. It will also be streamed via the ACC Plus Network on the ESPN3 and WatchESPN platform.
