Bulldogs Fall In GLIAC North Men's Basketball Showdown At Parkside On Saturday

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad's quest for a third-straight Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Championship will have to wait for another game as the Bulldogs fell to Wisconsin-Parkside 66-59 in an exciting road game on Saturday (Feb. 23) in Kenosha, Wis.

The host Rangers surged into a first-place tie with FSU by beating the Bulldogs on their home floor and each squad is now 12-7 in league play heading into the final regular-season game of the year. Ferris State could have won the title outright by beating UWP on Saturday.

Despite the setback, the Bulldogs have clinched a first-round quarterfinal home game for the GLIAC Tournament on Tuesday, March 5, as both FSU and UWP are tied for third overall and each team holds a two-game lead over three other schools with only a single game left in the regular-season.

In Saturday's setback, FSU jumped in front early and scored the game's first seven points before the Rangers battled back and eventually took a 26-24 halftime lead. The game went back and forth in the second frame, but Parkside eventually moved in front and held off the Bulldogs down the stretch to earn the victory.

Ferris State was led by sophomore Jaylin McFadden's 14 points. Senior guard DeShaun Thrower added 13 points in the setback.

The Bulldogs were held to only 36.8% shooting and FSU was four-of-24 (16.7%) from long range. FSU also turned the ball over 18 times and was outrebounded 41-36 for the game.

Parkside got a game-high tying 14 points from Jonathan Morrobel off the bench as he connected on four-of-seven from three-point range. Chavares Flanigan chipped in with 12 points and Adam Bonk scored 11 for the Rangers.

Ferris State will visit Lake Superior State for its final regular-season contest on Thursday, Feb. 28, with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. (ET) in Sault Ste. Marie.
