Registration Underway For 17th Annual Ferris State Men's Basketball Golf Outing

Big Rapids, Mich. - Another strong turnout is expected and spots are filling fast for the 17th annual Ferris State University Men's Basketball Alumni and Friends Golf Outing that will be held Wednesday, July 22, at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.

All Bulldog fans and friends are invited to take part in the four-person scramble, which serves as one of the program's primary fundraising events. The 18-hole outing will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m., and a 9:45 a.m. rules meeting followed by a 10 a.m. shotgun start.

"This outing has propelled us to a record six-straight 20 win seasons," said FSU head coach Andy Bronkema. "We encourage everyone to come out and celebrate with us. The support we generate from this outing will help keep us on an Elite level."

More than 100 golfers have took part in the event each of the last seven years as the annual outing continues to grow, including nearly 150 golfers each of the past four years.

The entry fee, which is $100 per person or $400 a team, includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, a postgame luncheon at Buffalo Wild Wings following play (if allowed by state rules due to COVID-19), raffle, silent auction and many other activities throughout the round. A great package of team and individual prizes will also be awarded. In addition, members of the Bulldog men's basketball program and various FSU Athletics Department staff will be on hand throughout the day.

Business and individual sponsorships are also available, including tee sponsorships ($125) or a corporate package that includes a foursome and a tee sponsorship for $475. All proceeds from the outing support the men's basketball program.

Ferris State's Katke Golf Course ranks among the finest University-owned golf courses in the United States. The course covers over 6,847 yards and is the highest point in Mecosta County, helping to define the scenic West Michigan landscape. Katke has won the Mecosta Country Peoples' Choice Awards for favorite golf range and favorite golf course in the area in recent years.

Designed by Robert Beard, Katke Golf Course opened for public play in 1974. The golf course has undergone some major renovations since 2004. Katke is a true test for any caliber of player.

The Bulldogs, who captured the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championship, have currently won 20 games or more six consecutive seasons. FSU has also reached the NCAA Tournament five of the past six years and won the program's third GLIAC Championship in the past four seasons this past winter.
