Ferris State Men's Basketball Tabbed 17th In Basketball Times Preseason National Poll

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad, which captured the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship for the third time in four seasons last year, has been tabbed as the nation's preseason #17 squad by The Basketball Times.

The Bulldogs, who compiled a 27-6 overall record last season en route to a NCAA Tournament appearance, are the lone GLIAC member school found in the top 20 listing.

The rankings are found in Basketball Times' November college basketball season preview issue, which includes its annual preseason top 20 team rankings and Preseason All-American teams for NCAA Divisions II & III and the NAIA. Basketball Times is a monthly print publication that has covered college basketball for more than 40 years and dubs itself as "The Real Voice of College Basketball."

Overall, the Bulldogs are one of only two teams from the Midwest Region found in the top 20 along with seventh-ranked Missouri-St. Louis. The top spot in the preseason national poll was held by Northwest Missouri State with West Texas A&M second and Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) tabbed third overall.

The Bulldogs, who captured the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championship, have currently won 20 games or more six consecutive seasons. FSU has also reached the NCAA Tournament five of the past six years, including last March when the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The official schedule and start dates for the 2020-21 season are still to be determined at this time. Ferris State will welcome back nine letter winners from last season's squad along with three redshirt freshmen while adding six newcomers to the mix.
