Ferris State Men's Basketball Bounces Back For Big Road Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - For the second consecutive weekend, the Ferris State University men's basketball squad bounced back in a big way as the Bulldogs rolled to a 87-69 victory over Parkside on Saturday (Jan. 16) in the weekend finale at De Simone Gymnasium in Kenosha, Wis.

After suffering a setback in Friday's weekend opener, the Bulldogs rolled over the Rangers in the finale behind a game-high 39 points from senior guard Walt Kelser. He finished 14-of-21 from the floor and made six three's in the triumph as FSU evened its record at 2-2 in the GLIAC.

The Bulldogs also got 13 points off the bench from junior forward Mason Pline with senior forward Michael Peterson adding 12 points in the triumph.

Ferris State connected on 54% of its field goals in Saturday's win and also made 11-of-23 (47.8%) three's in addition to eight-of-nine (88.9%) free throws. FSU also owned a 34-23 rebounding edge and pulled down 10 offensive boards.

In the win, the Bulldogs also limited their turnovers with only seven for the afternoon and FSU came up with 14 assists along with two blocks and two steals.

Parkside was paced by Tray Croft, who finished with 19 points overall. Josiah Palmer added 11 points off the bench, but those were the only two UWP players to reach double-figures.

FSU held Parkside to 45.5% shooting and the Rangers went nine-of-25 (36%) from three-point land and 10-of-13 (76.9%) at the charity stripe. They had eight turnovers to go with 12 assists in addition to a single block and a single steal.

Ferris State returns home for its first GLIAC home games against Northern Michigan on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 22-23, with both games slated to tipoff at 5 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena.
