Ferris State Racks Up Big Numbers In GLIAC-Opening Victory Over Purdue Northwest

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally-ranked Ferris State University men's basketball squad rolled to a high-scoring 120-77 win over Purdue Northwest in its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opener on Thursday (Dec. 2) night at Big Rapids High School.

The Bulldogs bolted out to a big lead and tallied 60 points in each half en route to the triumph, improving to 6-1 overall this year.

In the win, the Bulldogs dished out 38 assists on 48 baskets and had six players reach double-figure scoring while shooting 61% from the floor and knocking down 14-of-31 (45.2%) three's.

Ferris State was paced by senior forward Dorian Aluyi with a game-high 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Meanwhile, senior guard Walt Kelser tallied 20 points and nine assists in fueling the win.

The Bulldogs also got 16 points with seven assists and six rebounds from junior Ben Davidson along with 14 points and five boards from graduate senior Lee Higgins.

FSU redshirt freshman Reece Hazelton talllied a career-high 11 points and four boards off the bench while freshman guard Ethan Erickson added 10 points. Sophomore Vejas Grazulis notched nine points on four-of-five shooting with senior big man Logan Ryan totaling eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Overall, all 10 Bulldog players that saw action scored at least five points in the victory.

Ferris State owned a 48-33 rebounding margin and came up with nine steals and six blocked shots in the victory. FSU also held PNW to only 37.5% shooting with the Pride finishing seven-of-26 (26.9%) from the three-point line.

Purdue Northwest had three players reach double-figure scoring with Jyrus Freels totaling a team-high 12 points. Anthony Irvin added 11 points and Anthony Barnard notched 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Ferris State will host Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday (Dec. 4) back at Big Rapids High School in GLIAC play with tipoff set for 4:30 p.m. (ET).
