
Ferris State Beats Calvin In Preseason Exhibition Game At Wink Arena

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad, which reached the NCAA Division II Elite Eight last season, earned a 83-69 exhibition win over longtime West Michigan foe Calvin University on Tuesday (Oct. 22) evening inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.
The visiting Knights built a 40-37 halftime lead, but FSU outscored Calvin 46-29 over the final 20 minutes to garner the preseason win.
Newcomer Tyler Hamilton paced FSU with a game-high 16 points while senior standout Ethan Erickson notched 15 points. FSU also got 11 points from senior Reece Hazelton along with 10 by Mykel Bingham.
The Bulldogs shot 51.7% from the floor in the second half and outrebounded Calvin 38-25 for the game.
The Knights, who were led by former Bulldog head coach Bill Sall, reached the NCAA Division III Elite Eight last season. They were led by Uchenna Egekeze with 13 points. Both Owen Varnado and Trip Riemersma added 12 points while Luka Ressler contributed 10 points.
Ferris State will play its final exhibition contest of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 29, against the Michigan State Spartans inside the Breslin Center in East Lansing. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (ET).
