#25 Ferris State Earns Impressive Road Win Over McKendree In Regional Play

Big Rapids, Mich. - The 25th-ranked Ferris State University men's basketball squad handed McKendree its first loss of the year as the Bulldogs rolled to an impressive 93-61 win over the host Bearcats in regional play on Saturday (Nov. 16) night in Lebanon, Ill.

The Bulldogs claimed their fifth consecutive win, moving to 5-1 overall this year, by beating McKendree for a big road win at the Harry M. Statham Sports Center.

FSU opened up a 47-28 halftime lead and outscored McKendree 46-33 in the second half for the win. The Bearcats dropped to 3-1 overall this year with the setback.

The Bulldogs had four players reach double-digit scoring in the win with freshman Jaxson Whitaker leading the way. He had a team-best 16 points on six-of-nine shooting, including four-of-six from long range.

Additionally, the Bulldogs got 14 points from junior guard Tyler Hamilton to go with 13 points from senior post Kenny Turner and 11 points by senior guard Ethan Erickson.

FSU finished with a 58.6% shooting performance on the road and the Bulldogs made seven-of-16 (43.8%) three's while going 18-of-23 (78.3%) at the charity stripe.

The Bulldogs also finished the game with a 35-26 rebounding edge and FSU had only eight turnovers in comparison with 14 from McKendree.

Kevin Stein led the Bearcats with 13 points while Destin Whitaker scored 12 points and Wyatt Zellers contributed 11 points.

A total of 12 different FSU players scored in the game.

The Bulldogs will visit Ashland for another regional test on Wednesday (Nov. 20) evening with tipoff set for 6 p.m. (ET) at Kates Gymnasium in Ohio. FSU then returns home to host Findlay on Saturday (Nov. 23) beginning at 6 p.m. (ET) in Ashland, Ohio.
