
#9 Ferris State Feasts Early In Final Game Prior To Thanksgiving Holiday Break
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad, which moved up to #9 in the nation this week, feasted early prior to the Thanksgiving holiday as the Bulldogs topped visiting Grace Christian 106-47 on Tuesday (Nov. 26) evening inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.
Ferris State wasted little time in its final contest prior to the holiday as the Bulldogs surged in front early and never looked back in the win. The Bulldogs led 51-21 at halftime and scored 55 second-half points in moving to 8-1 overall this year.
All 13 players in uniform scored for FSU in the triumph and all played at least nine minutes in the game with no one playing more than 21 minutes overall.
Junior center Nathan Claerbaut paced the Bulldogs with a game-high 16 points while adding nine rebounds and two blocked shots. He was one of five FSU standouts to reach double-figure scoring on the night.
The Bulldogs' Donovan Brown-Boyd and Ethan Erickson both finished with 12 points while senior Kenny Turner had 11 points and 11 rebounds in a double-double effort. Also, junior Mykel Bingham chipped in with 10 points.
Ferris State shot 52.6% from the floor and sank 10-of-27 (37.0%) three's in winning for the eighth consecutive game. The Bulldogs also converted 16-of-18 (88.9%) free throws.
Defensively, Ferris State held the Tigers to only 26.6% shooting, including a seven-of-34 (20.6%) showing in the first 20 minutes of play. Grace Christian made only four-of-32 (12.5%) long range tries, but did go nine-of-10 (90%) at the charity stripe.
The Bulldogs owned a decisive 55-28 rebounding margin and FSU pulled down 17 offensive caroms for the evening. Ferris State also came up with 13 steals, including four by Brown-Boyd, in addition to eight blocked shots.
For Grace Christian, which fell to 4-5 overall, Aiden Burns was the lone player to reach double-figure scoring with a team-high 10 points.
Ferris State will return to the court on Tuesday, Dec. 3, as the Bulldogs host Lake Superior State in their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opener at Wink Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (ET).
